Is it Time for a Career Change? How to know and what to do.

Hey there, you beautiful creative weirdos! It's me, EB Sanders, your go-to for all things career and work. Today, we're going to talk about something that every creative person has thought about at least once: changing careers.

Let's be real, we all have those days where we wake up and just don't feel like doing the same old thing. Maybe you're tired of the repetitive grind, or you're feeling creatively drained. Maybe you're just ready for a change. Whatever your reason may be, here are some tips to help you figure out when it's time to change careers, and what to do about it.

First things first, let's talk about how to know when it's time to change careers.

Here are some signs that it might be time for a change:

  1. You're no longer excited about your work. If you're feeling bored or uninspired by your work, it might be a sign that it's time to try something new.

  2. You're not using your strengths. If you're not using your strengths in your current job, it might be time to explore other options that allow you to use your skills and talents.

  3. You're not growing or learning. If you're not growing or learning in your current job, it might be time to find a new challenge that will help you develop new skills and expand your knowledge.

  4. Your values don't align with your current job. If your job doesn't align with your personal values, it can be hard to feel fulfilled and happy in your work.

  5. You dread going to work. If you're dreading going to work every day, it's probably time to start exploring other options.

If any of these signs sound familiar, it might be time to start thinking about a career change.

But where do you start?

  1. The first step is to figure out what you want to do. This can be a daunting task, but it's important to take the time to really think about what you enjoy doing, what you're good at, and what your values are. Once you have a clear idea of what you want to do, start researching different careers and industries to find the best fit for you.

  2. It's also important to take stock of your current skills and experience. What skills and experience do you have that can transfer to a new career? Are there any gaps in your knowledge or experience that you need to fill before making a career change? Consider taking classes or workshops to gain new skills or certifications.

  3. Another important step is to network and talk to people in the industry you're interested in. Reach out to people on LinkedIn or attend networking events to get a better understanding of the industry and what it takes to be successful in it.

  4. And finally, don't be afraid to take the leap! Changing careers can be scary, but it can also be incredibly rewarding. Take the time to plan and prepare, but don't let fear hold you back from pursuing your dreams.

Remember, creative folx, life is too short to be unhappy in your work.

Take the time to explore your options, find your passion, and pursue it with everything you've got. And who knows, maybe one day you'll be just as successful as you want to be. (Hey, a girl can dream!)

Look, I know that, changing careers can be a scary and overwhelming process (I did it… TWICE!), but it can also be incredibly rewarding. If you're feeling stuck or uninspired in your current career, take the time to explore your options and find your passion. Don't be afraid to take the leap and pursue your dreams. And most importantly, never forget that you're doing it for you, and that's what makes you amazing

Yours in yeah, you can do this goodness,

EBS
