The 10 Strategies You Need to Know to Get Your LinkedIn Profile Noticed

Have you been trying to understand how to get your LinkedIn profile noticed and getting lost in big fancy words like Optimization and Search Reach?

If you’re more of a visual learner like me, today’s your lucky day!

The infographic below shows you how to zhuzh your LinkedIn profile so you can get found by those over-worked recruiters who want to find someone just like you!

A Quick Overview

If you take a closer look at step #2, you will see a super quick fix that many folx overlook, but can instantly up your chances of being found by the people you want to find you. Just remember, LinkedIn is basically a free digital billboard all for you.

One thing that keeps coming up when I working with Resume Refresh clients is that many of them haven’t updated their skills section since they set up their profile many moons ago. It’s as if they don’t want hiring managers to know how competent and talented they really are and definitely don’t want to show up in search results.

Fascinating, right? Does this inspire you to actually revamp your own profile?

It’s interesting to see those who are actively looking for new opportunities to overlook even the most minor tweaks that could garner them big-time results.

My 3 Favorite Insights From this Infographic

The biggest thing that jumps out at me when it comes to creating a LinkedIn profile that resonates with hiring managers is that many job-seekers don’t consider who the looker of the profile is! Unless you simply want to connect with colleagues at the same level, you want to think about what would attract those folx who would want to hire you for a leveling up opportunity. What is it they need and want to see?

Another “mistake” profile writers can make is that they either try to pack an entire biography/memoir into their About section or they offer a single sentence that leaves the hiring manager wondering who you even are.

Another crucial step you should never skip is actually the most overlooked. Confirming that your contact info is present, correct and what you actually want shared!

I can guarantee you, if a recruiter has to hunt for your email address, you are much less likely to get that email.

How this helps your career

Whenever I learn something about how to make someone’s job search easier, I always ask myself how to apply it with as little friction as possible.

If you are searching for a job, you can deduce that being visible to your target audience can save you time and stress.

My client Nat found that with the help of my workshop on making Strategic Networking fun and easy, they could create the ideal networking plan that would help them make that next big step in their career. And, of course, souping up their LinkedIn profile played a bit part in that.

Their experience shows how you can apply the steps laid out here to Get Your LinkedIn Profile Noticed, and I firmly believe that you too can move your career forward with some quick changes to your own profile.

You can also see that one of the critical components of a successful career is building up a strong network of like-minded people.
